Reuse

Reusing materials saves money, energy and natural resources and creates markets for materials, new jobs, and opportunities for vocational training. Reuse is the first option in diverting unwanted materials from landfills; why throw away a good thing if someone else could use it!

Reuse opportunities include:

  • Donating household items like clothes, footwear and furniture to local agencies like Goodwill, Deseret Industries, AMVETS, Cerebral Palsy, etc.
  • Giving unperishable food to local food banks and charitable organizations
  • Donating usable building materials. This offers a way to get rid of materials affordably and avoids costly landfill disposal fees.

Here are a few places where you can donate reusable items in our region:

Books - Sell or Donate

Do you have old or even new books that you'd like to get rid of? Believe it or not, books are not entirely recyclable. If your books are bound together with glue, they are considered "contaminated" because the glue hinders the recycling process. So, what can you do? Either sell OR donate those unwanted books!
