Role and Function

Pursuant to the City of Chula Vista Charter § 600 and Municipal Code Chapter 2.63, the Measure A Citizens' Oversight Committee ("COC") was created to review and report on all Measure A proposed expenditure plans, financial reports and audits. Measure A is the half-cent sales tax measure to fund public safety staffing and services that was passed by Chula Vista voters in June 2018. The new tax will allow the Chula Vista Fire and Police Departments to hire additional police officers and firefighters, to provide faster responses to 9-1-1 emergency calls, increase neighborhood police patrols including gang and drug-related crimes, address homelessness, and improve firefighter, paramedic and emergency medical response times. For additional information on Measure A, please visit  Measure A - Public Safety Staffing.

The Commission is composed of eleven members appointed to staggered four-year terms. As listed below, all terms expire on June 30th of the year. Click here to APPLY for the Commission
